About KHALIFA BIN SALMAN PORT
With its recent opening, Khalifa Bin Salman Port (KBSP) is now the main sea port within the Kingdom of Bahrain. Housed on 110 hectares of reclaimed land, the port is strategically located13 km to the east of Bahrain International Airport. It's location in the heart of the GCC provides a unique and cost effective opportunity for trade and trans-shipment to the important upper gulf region.

The new port is far more advanced than the old Mina Salman port which it now replaces as the main port in Bahrain. Able to handle the largest ocean-going ships, the new port also has a passenger terminal, roll-on/roll-off ramps and general cargo facilities.

The new port is equipped with the latest technology to assist customs in the faster clearance of cargo. Non-intrusive inspection coupled with risk based assessment enables larger volumes of cargo to be cleared. To facilitate faster clearance, Bahrain Customs has implemented a business process improvement program, to streamline the customs clearance process.

Suspect goods are subject to further non-intrusive and intrusive inspection for prohibited and restricted goods, or other contraband. Customs officers are ever vigilant and ensure the enforcement of customs regulations.

The new customs clearance offices at the port, are modern, purpose built, and efficient. Equipped with the latest technology and systems, customs can now facilitate even faster clearance of cargo.

Under the management of private operator, APM Terminals, a global terminal operator, the port is one of the most modern in the Gulf, able to handle container vessels with an efficiency matching that of the most productive ports in the world. The Ports & Maritime Affairs supervises and regulates the port's functions in line with the concession agreement
